Creekside Show Stable

Now located in Oregon City at 13262 S Leland Rd.

Our facility offers an Olympic size all weather outdoor arena, 72'x204' indoor arena, 100'x200' sand outdoor, 18 stalls, ample turnout, viewing room and decks, multiple tackrooms and much more.  At the center of the property is a historic Red Barn. Built in 1918, it is one of the original structures built in the New Era area. This barn houses 5 stalls, one tackroom and has an adjacent client lounge and trainers office. Our lower barn offers an additional 8 stall barn with tackroom. The shedrow barn is home to 5 more stalls and one tackroom. Big plans are in store as we continue to bring this well loved, historic facility up to current industry standards.  Watch our social media outlets for news about shows, clinics and renovations.

Kelly Marriner-Smith,

Owner, Trainer

Kelly is a lifelong equestrian and lover of all animals especially horses. Kelly's accomplishments in the show ring are impressive. A World Champion Hunter Rider, active Grand Prix rider, and vast experience with young horses make Kelly an excellent choice when looking for a trainer. Kelly's teaching style is firm but fair.  Challenging but compassionate. Her goal is to bring out the best in both horses and riders. Enjoy this short film about Kelly here...

Meet Our Team

We are proud of our team at Creekside.

Every member is as important as the next.

Vets, farriers, trainers and clients are all part of the process and path to success.

Kimberly Young

Kim has been riding and working with horses for over 35 years. Kim got her start on the Pinto circuit before moving to LOHC where she rode with Lee Jorgensen. A University of Oregon Alumni, Kim has degrees in psychology and philosophy and previously worked as a social worker for teens in foster care. Beyond spending time with horses, Kim enjoys hiking, camping and international travel. Kim assists in all aspects of the horse care and barn management four days a week at Creekside.

Kate Stover

Kate has 20+ years experience as an over-grown barn rat. She grew up on the hunter/jumper circuit in the Northeast, competing, grooming and assistant training. After a few years guiding tourists on horseback in Ecuador and Malaysia, she's settled in Oregon to pursue a license in clinical social work, with a plan to open and equine assisted therapy program. Kate assists in all aspects of the horses care and barn management three days a week at Creekside.

Jennifer Black

Jennifer comes to us from San Diego, CA and is a second generation horsewoman.  Growing up on her family's Blackland Farm gave Jennifer amazing experiences and access to top professionals including Nancy Reed, Chuck Esau, Victor Hugo-Vidal, Richard Keller and many, many more.  Jennifer has worked with some of the greats in the industry and has an in-depth understanding of the basics of how to prepare both horse and rider for the show ring. Jennifer is very excited to start this next chapter as the assistant trainer at Creekside and we are equally as excited to have her on our team!

Enrique And Maria Alvarez

Enrique and Maria are beloved and important members of our team. They bring a smile to everyone's face with their friendly and comfortable way around the people and horses.  We greatly appreciate their attention to detail and high standard of care they bring to their role at Creekside.

What our clients are saying

"We could not be happier with Kelly at Creekside Show Stable. Her program has great people through and through!  Kelly works on understanding and supporting the goals of each of her students. Kelly is an excellent instructor and and coaches in a way that is encouraging and motivating but at the same time she is always honest and straightforward. The care of the horses at Creekside is top notch and each horse is looked after as if it was one of her own. Kelly puts the welfare of our horses above anything else and she places as much emphasis on horsemanship in her program as she does actual riding skills. I have made incredible friends at Creekside and love my "barn family". I would highly recommend Creekside to anyone who is passionate about horses and wants to advance in their riding and deepen their knowledge and understanding of horses in a positive, uplifting and family friendly environment".

-Courtney Erb-Lewis

"Kelly is an accomplished rider and trainer who consistently puts the horse first-after all, we do this because we love horses and their care and handling should be a priority. Kelly also fosters a sense of community and teamwork throughout all aspects of her program. Whether it's starting the littlest short-stirrup rider, educating juniors, or developing the next top hunter or grand prix horse, Kelly has the experience and skill to help each rider and horse map out and achieve their full potential Since joining her program, I have a much deeper understanding and appreciation of my horse and I have not only become a better rider but my confidence and motivation has been renewed to pursue the next phase of my riding career". -Annika Jensen-Lamka

"I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Kelly for many years. When I first came to her I was a 40-something amateur with little prior riding experience. I only knew that I loved horses and wanted to jump. With her focused attention on equitation and horsemanship, she helped me lay the foundation to do the riding I wanted to do. I went from walk, trot, canter to 'A' rated horse shows!  I strongly recommend her program. She has a keen ability to see what each horse and rider needs to perform at their best. Her lessons are always interesting and challenging. Good horsemanship and sportsmanship are also emphasized in this program".

2021 Horse Show Schedule

We love to show! Local one day shows to National Championships, our schedule offers something for everyone.

Click here for our 2021 schedule.

Our absolute favorite place to show close to home! Team NW offers six horse shows each summer right in our backyard. Looking forward to showing beautifully in Oregon 2021!

The ultimate "horsecation", Sonoma Horse Park is definitely a destination show worth travelling to.  Outstanding competition, amazing facility and many off-site attractions are just a few of the reasons we love Sonoma Horse Park!

Fun in the sun! 12 months a year. We have enjoyed the winter circuit in Thermal for many years. We have also enjoyed the Sunshine Series in the fall. If a break from the rainy season in the NW is calling your name, join us in the desert!

We plan to trek to Kentucky in 2021.  With ponies already qualified and riders eager to experience this wonderful event, we've pinned our summer destination on Kentucky Horse Park! In addition to Pony Finals, we plan to attend the two weeks prior for the KY Summer and KY Summer Classic.

Board and Training

Our program is centered around equitation and horsemanship. Whether you compete in hunters, jumpers or equitation, we put rock solid basics at the foundation and build from there. We teach and encourage riders to understand the way a horse thinks and learns. We honor our horses with compassionate, systematic training and education that creates a willing, trusting and happy partner. We achieve these principles with a proven system that includes groundwork, flatwork, gymnastics and challenging courses. Our program encourages hands-on horsemanship but understands the time consuming, busy lives our clients live. Full grooming at home and at shows is available by request at an additional charge.

Contact us today for your tour of our facilities and an introduction to our program and professionals. Board and training is $1300.00/month when paid on or before the first of each month.
